Welcome to Howdy George! My name is Nichole and I am the creator + designer behind Howdy George. Howdy George will be manly comprised of my family-Mickel, my husband of 16 years, and our four children: Brooks, Noah, Opal, and Oliver. You will find posts on faith, family, homeschooling, home design, travel, recipes, grief and loss, hope, and more.
I spend my days homeschooling + guiding and nurturing the hearts of our little ones to pursue the Lord. They are our treasures and I am so thankful to spend my days with them.
Our daughter, Opal, was diagnosed with Acute Megakaryoblasitc Leukemia when she was six months old, June of 2016. We lived in Memphis, Tennessee at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital for a year doing chemo to destroy it. She was declared cancer free in January of 2017 and we were able to return home. We were on cloud nine and so thankful!
After being home for a little over a month, Opal started showing signs that something was wrong. The cancer was back and it was back with a vengeance. It overcame her precious body and she passed to heaven on June 24, 2017. We miss her and long for her everyday. We have a giant hole in our lives where our sweet girl should be. We long for the day we see her again. She was our little sunshine and we miss her desperately everyday.
