Hope you all had a great Christmas. Our little guy had a great time. We got him a lego duplo train and he says “Monster” and takes the train off the track or takes a piece of the track off. Isn’t he the cutest?
We had a Birthday Party for Jesus. He was so excited to blow out the candle. We sang “Happy Birthday” and re-lit the candle about 10 times. He kept saying “Birthday Jesus Peeease”.

We built and decorated Graham Cracker houses on New Years day. Our guy kept looking around with an expression “I can’t believe they are letting me do this!”. He really enjoyed himself. He would stick some candy on the house to get the icing on it, then eat it. For some reason, when we ate supper after, he was not very hungry…
Hope you had a meaningful Christmas and New Year! Made any resolutions?

We just returned from our annual trip to visit the mouse. We had such a fun time and were even able to coerce my parents, brother, and sister-in-law to come along for part of the trip. If you ever visit during the “holiday season” (which they consider all of November and December – yes, it was a little too early to be hearing Christmas music playing in the parks) make sure you go to Hollywood Studios to the Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights. It is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. This year, the little man really enjoyed himself. His favorites were the Country Bear Jamboree, Figments Imagination ride, and the sea gulls that say “Mine! Mine!” outside of the Nemo ride. His vocabulary skyrocketed while we were there, since there were so many new situations and people. He started saying “Hello people” and waving at everyone.

The End.

We had a great 4th of July weekend. Brooks had such a great time all weekend, but especially at the baseball game and fireworks (or “boom” as he called them).
We spent time with family, went to a movie, ate lots of good food, stayed up late, grilled out, and celebrated a late fathers day. It was a great relaxing weekend. Brooks was so tired, he took an almost four hour nap Tuesday.
Brooks enjoyed eating cotton candy at the game. He liked all the clapping and yelling. By the end of the game he was putting his arm up and yelling “charge!”
He got to run the bases with his Poppa after the game and fireworks. He was so happy, his little legs were running as fast as he could following Poppa. He liked it so much they went around twice.
Hope your weekend was great, too. Stay tuned tomorrow for a nautical necklace DIY.

Today I gave Brooks his fourth hair cut. It was waaay past time. This is the before picture, above.
The handsome man after, above. He was so good while I was cutting it. He sat on the table and squirted himself in the face with the water bottle. Not too shabby for giving my second hair cut, if I do say so myself (ha!). Just don’t look too closely! My mom gave him his first two cuts, but he was so crazy and naughty the second time, she doesn’t seem to be available now when he needs one. Hum, seems fishy to me. So, out of necessity I can add barber to my resume. Who is next?

This picture is just for the cute cheeks. They are so kissable.
Happy Wednesday!

Today is the first day of summer. The picture above is of Brooks one year ago today. He was just sitting up on his own. Now, one year later…
…He is running around all over the place. We got this octopus sprinkler last year and we broke it out this year. He really likes it. The first day we got it out he kept touching it and saying “oohh”.
With our fair skin we get sunburned really easily, so I slathered him with so much sunscreen he was white (well, whiter than normal!). With all the sunscreen in his hair it was spiked out like crazy. He was so cute and had such a great time.
Happy Summer!

I want to share with you the cutest cupcake toppers and banner that Mickel made me for my birthday. Isn’t he creative? He drew out little fantasy buildings in Illustrator, printed them on cardstock, cut them out and attached a toothpick. He also made a banner that said “Happy Birthday Nikki”. I am so proud of him. It was so thoughtful and fun. I love him.

Tonight Brooks had his first time playing in the rain. It was raining lightly and the sun was out. He was so happy and we had a great time.
He is now an outside guy. He never wants to come in. You can see our sidewalk chalk being washed away under his feet.
Hope you are having a great day!

We had a busy week last week and I did not get a chance to post anything. My little guy had his first trip to the emergency room. He fell and bit into his lower lip. He was really upset at first, but by the time the doctor got in to see us, it was as if nothing had happened. He survived. You can see his injury (bottom lip) in this picture:
We also took a day off and went to the Zoo. Brooks really didn’t care about the animals. He spent all his time picking up rocks and kicking up dirt. He is all boy. He did get to touch a kangaroo. They did not act like I thought they would. I thought they would be jumping around everywhere and hyper, but they were really lazy. They were all lounging around and they had droopy eyes and faces like a Bassett Hound. Their fur felt like you were petting a rabbit. Very soft.
We were also able to go to a T.E.A. Party rally on tax day. It was exciting. Dick Morris was the speaker.
Finally, Friday was our Fifth Wedding Anniversary. In some ways it seems like five years have flown by, but in other ways it seems like we have been together for a lifetime (in a good way, of course!).
We took a fun three day weekend. It was hard to leave our little guy behind, but also a good time to get away. While we were gone I always felt like I was missing something since I didn’t have to pack around a 26 pound cutey and all his supplies. He also had a good time away with his Mimi and Pops. I’m not sure he even missed us that much. Maybe he needed a break from us!
Happy Fifth Anniversary Mickel, here’s to many, many more!
